Graduation Requirements

Beyond Preparatory Academy awards a 22-credit private school high school diploma to students who successfully complete the Academy’s graduation requirements.

Students must earn a minimum of 22 credits through required academic coursework and approved electives.

English – 4 Credits

• English I
• English II
• English III
• English IV

Mathematics – 3 Credits

• Algebra I
• Geometry
• Algebra II or Math Models

Science – 3 Credits

• Biology
• IPC, Chemistry, or Physics
• Environmental Science or an approved advanced science

BPA also offers Anatomy & Physiology as advanced/additional science coursework. Your existing curriculum guide identifies it as a 1.0 Carnegie Unit course for grades 11–12.

BPA provides a Fine Arts option that may include visual arts, art appreciation, creative expression, visual communication, cultural exploration, and digital or project-based activities.

Career & Technical Education (CTE) – 1 Credit

CTE coursework introduces students to career pathways, employability skills, workplace expectations, professionalism, technology, and career preparation.

Electives – 6 Credits

Academic Standards & Curriculum

Beyond Preparatory Academy provides structured, self-paced instruction designed to support high school completion and prepare students for postsecondary education, career training, employment, and independent adult life.

BPA’s curriculum includes English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health and physical education, fine arts, career and technical education, and elective coursework.

Instruction is delivered primarily online and is supported by teacher-developed lessons, instructional resources, assignments, projects, assessments, and individualized teacher support.

Mastery-Based Learning

BPA uses a mastery-based approach to student learning. Depending on the course, students demonstrate learning through:

• Unit assessments and examinations
• Projects and performance tasks
• Written assignments
• Online coursework
• Teacher-graded activities
• Discussions and reflections
• Research assignments
• Virtual or approved hands-on learning activities

Students who have not demonstrated mastery receive additional instruction, feedback, remediation, and opportunities for reassessment.

This approach is already reflected in BPA’s developed curriculum. For example, the English I curriculum requires students to demonstrate at least 70% mastery and provides remediation and reassessment when needed.

College, Career & Postsecondary Preparation

Beyond Preparatory Academy prepares graduates to pursue continued education, career training, employment, and other postsecondary opportunities.

BPA graduates have successfully continued their education at the college level.

The Academy prepares students to pursue pathways that may include:

• Community colleges
• Four-year colleges and universities
• Trade and vocational programs
• Career and technical training
• Workforce-development programs
• Employment
• Other postsecondary education and training opportunities

Students planning to attend college are encouraged to review the admissions and financial-aid requirements of their chosen institution. Admission and financial-aid eligibility are ultimately determined by the applicable college, university, program, and federal requirements.

Beyond Preparatory Academy awards a 22-credit high school diploma to students who successfully satisfy BPA’s graduation requirements.

BPA maintains official student records, including:

• Cumulative academic records
• Earned course credits
• Enrollment documentation
• Graduation documentation

BPA graduates have used their educational preparation to pursue postsecondary opportunities, including college enrollment.

Co-Curricular Opportunities

Beyond Preparatory Academy provides students with opportunities to participate in activities and experiences beyond their regular academic coursework.

Because BPA is a small, primarily online program, co-curricular programming is intentionally flexible and centered on personal development, life skills, mentorship, positive decision-making, and community engagement.

Mentorship & Life Skills Sessions

Students have opportunities to participate in mentorship and life-skills activities addressing communication, goal setting, decision-making, responsibility, time management, conflict resolution, financial awareness, career preparation, and other practical skills.

Personal Growth & Small-Group Discussions

Students may participate in small-group discussions addressing personal growth, character, responsibility, relationships, leadership, communication, and positive decision-making.

These experiences also reinforce BPA’s faith-centered values of integrity, respect, purpose, perseverance, and personal responsibility.

Community-Based Activities

Students may participate in or be connected with:

Because BPA operates primarily online, activities may be provided virtually, individually, in small groups, or through approved community-based opportunities.

As enrollment grows, BPA plans to expand these opportunities based on student interests, feedback, available resources, and community partnerships.
